Spezialkurs Legal English (B2)

Target Group

English for Law aims to develop and enhance speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in contexts frequently met by lawyers and law students.
A participant needs a good knowledge of English, particularly as regards reading and listening.

Content and Objectives

The content focuses mainly on areas of law which the participants indicate they work in or study so that they become more secure when dealing with those areas of law in English.

Method

The method is interactive and communicative with special emphasis being given to using the language.
Whatever area of law is the focus, having the target vocabulary is essential, thus ensuring that people can function in a particular context using legal vocabulary and appropriate language.
Participants do activities in pairs or small groups. Also, participants are expected to do some preparation.
The language used is English.

At the end of the course, participants can receive a graded certificate subject to a minimum of 75% course attendance and passing grades in all four language skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing). The ultimate decision regarding recognition (or non-recognition) of ECTS points (credits) lies with your university’s or institutes’ Study Program Administration [Studienprogrammleitung].
