We offer 4-week intensive courses in July and August, and a 3-week course in September. These can be booked either with, or without accommodation (single or twin rooms). The lectures are held in the morning and each course covers one course phase. We offer a total of 11 different course phases, all of which correspond to the language proficiency levels set by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Everyone over the age of 16 can attend our language courses.

Registration can be carried out either online, or in person at our main office.

The registration period for the summer courses starts at mid-February and ends shortly before the course starts.

Your course level will be determined by placement test before the course start (on the first course day at the latest). You will receive an invitation to the placement test after completing the registration.

You do not have to take a placement test if you are a beginner at level A1/1, if you have recently attended a course at the Language Center, or if you can produce a Goethe/ÖSD-certificate acquired within the last 12 months with minimum scores of 80% for each of the four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). In such a case, please contact our main office showing one of the mentioned certificates.

Yes, though we recommend a minimum attendance of two weeks. Please note that it is not possible to join the course later if you are a beginner.

Accommodation is in conveniently situated students' dormitories. For current prices, please visit German Intensive Courses.

All students' dormitories are conveniently located, so that the Language Center, which is on the University Campus, can be easily reached either on foot, or by public transport.

You will be sent the exact address of your students' dormitory as a PDF document upon full settlement of your payment, along with your course registration confirmation.

The rooms in the dormitories are divides into residential units; two to four rooms share the same shower and toilet. Every accommodation unit has its own kitchenette; alternatively, there is a common kitchen on every floor. Bed linen is provided. Please note that towels are not provided. Access to washing machines is available in all students' dormitories for a small fee. All dormitories offer internet access via WLAN. You will receive detailed information directly at your dormitory upon check-in.

If you attend two, or all three summer German courses, we are going to book your interim (Saturday/Sunday) nights automatically. The price will be itemised on your course registration and charged upon your arrival in Vienna. If you only book one summer course though, supplementary stays are not possible.

Arrival at students' dormitories is only possible during check-in times.

Students' dormitories are no hotels and thus have no reception.

You are welcome to specify wishes with your registration; we will be happy to book you into a specific students' dormitory, subject to availability.

Please make sure you express your preferences with your registration, as subsequent requests will not be considered.

The accommodation we offer is in students' dormitories, which are occupied by students of Vienna universities throughout the academic year (October through June). During the summer months, we can profit from the availability of accommodation and offer rooms to participants in our summer intensive courses.

You can check into your students' dormitory on every Sunday preceding course commencement, at the times specified on your course registration.

NB: Rooms cannot be accessed outside the specified times, since students' dormitories have no reception.

Some students' dormitories insist on a security deposit for the key. This deposit does not exceed EUR 100, but must be posted upon check-in. Please have this amouont available. Payment is only possible in cash; no credit card payment is accepted.

Check-out is set for the morning of the Saturday following the end of the course. Detailed information regarding check-out will be provided upon your arrival at the students' dormitory.

Along with your confirmation of registration, we will send you a PDF document including the route from Vienna International Airport, respectively from major train stations, to your dormitory, as well as the route from the dormitory to the Language Center on the University Campus. You will have to organize your travels on your own.

Unfortunately, students' dormitories do not offer parking facilicites.

The German intensive courses in summer take place every morning. Students are free to plan their afternoons as they wish.

Nevertheless, the Language Center offers some free or inexpensive leisure activities in the afternoon. These include lectures, walks to various sights in Vienna and special courses to train individual skills (phonetics/pronunciation, grammar, conversation, writing training, business German).

Registration for the afternoon activities is possible from the first day of the course via our website.

The afternoon activity program will be finalized by course commencement. You will receive further information via our newsletter and on our website.

The participants in the German courses come from around 90 different countries (especially from Spain, Italy, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, Japan and the US). The minimum age is 16, while most participants' age ranges between 18 and 25. Since there are no other prerequisites for participation, our courses are also poplular with non-students, elder people and retirees.

You will find plenty of cafés, takeaways and restaurants in proximity to the campus.

You receive access to the University of Vienna WLAN network (eduroam) by means of a voucher which you will be handed at our Office and which includes your user ID and password.

Vienna has a very good public transport network. Coming by car is therefore not recommended, especially since free-of-charge parking is not available anymore and you would have to consider supplementary parking expenses (garages, toll parking, etc.).

• Where can I park?
  You can park in marked toll-parking zones or in underground garages. Please consider that toll parking is limited in time. Free-of-charge parking is not available in Vienna.
• What are the parking fees?
  Parking fees depend on parking duration. Fees for toll parking are available at Parking in Vienna. As a rule, undergroound garages are very expensive (tarifs at  Apcoa).
