February Intensive Courses

We offer 3-week February German intensive courses every year. The number of participants per class is 14-16.

Important information regarding the registation:

  • If you have no previous knowledge of German, you may register directly for an A1/1-course.
  • Should you have some knowledge of German and already attended classes at the Language Center, you may book the next level by accessing your personal account.
  • Should you have some knowledge of German but have so far not attended classes at the Language Center, please register for the “February Intensive Course” listed without a level, and take a placement test with us between January 9 and February 6, 2017. We will then book you into the suitable level based on the result of this placement test.

  • everyone above the age of 16 years
  • students of all faculties
  • ERASMUS incoming students who wish to take the intensive course as a preparation for their summer semester

Duration, Intensity, Course Times, Tuition Fees

Duration: 3 weeks
Intensity: 5x/week, Monday - Friday
Teaching units/day: 4
Teaching units/week: 20 (total: 56 units per course)
Course times: mornings or afternoons

Tuition fees: € 390,-

1 teaching unit = 45 minutes

The schedule is available on the first day of registration.

Course Phases

The February intensive course covers 1 course phase.
We offer 11 course phases: A1/1, A1/2, A2/1, A2/2, B1/1, B1/2, B2/1, B2/2, C1/1, C1/2, C2.

Registration options offered:

  • personal registration is:

    • available to all participants
    • mandatory for all new customers with previous knowledge of the language (starting from A1/2), since allocation to the appropriate course is based on the placement test to be taken prior to registration.

  • online-registration:

    • beginners with no previous knowledge of the language (for A1/1 courses)
    • participants who have attended previous German courses at the Language Center, via the Customer LOGIN.
    • new customers with previous knowledge of the language (starting from A1/2), who will come to Vienna shortly before the course starts, may register to the general course and take the placement test on the first day of the course.

 Course selection & online booking

Placement tests are carried out when registration starts. You can take the test during our office hours (latest possible start one hour before our office closes, no appointment necessary).

The first day of the course (Monday) is also reserved for placement tests. Classes start on Tuesday of the first course week.

The tests last approximately 30 minutes and consist of an oral and a written part. You can register for the appropriate course after the placement test.

You are not obliged to take the test

  • if you are a beginner of the A1/1 level
  • if you have previously attended German courses at the Language Center
  • or if you can produce an ÖSD or Goethe certificate.


Course Certificate

The minimum requirements for the issuance of a course certificate are as following:

  • minimum 75% attendance of the total course duration
  • and participance in the final examination.

You will receive your certificate on the last day of the course.

Passing marks in the final examination result in the granting of 4 ECTS credits. The relevant Study Program Administration [Studienprogrammleitung] or university has the ultimate decision regarding recognition of ECTS credits.

All our certificates from level B2/2 and above substitute the supplementary German examination [Ergänzungsprüfung Deutsch (EPD)] for non-degree program students of the University Preparation Programmes [Vorstudienlehrgang (VWU)].

At the end of the course, every participant can receive a confirmation of participation sheet (minimum course attendance: 75%) from the Office of the Language Center.
