Target group/prior knowledge:

This course is aimed at learners at advanced level B1 who wish to deepen their knowledge of French through cultural and artistic elements. Both students and professionals who want to improve their language skills in an engaging way are welcome.

Content:

The course "Poèmes et Chansons B1" course is designed to offer advanced French learners a unique and culturally enriching experience. In this course, participants are introduced to the fascinating world of French poetry and music to deepen their language skills in a fun and creative way.

Method:

Analysis and interpretation of selected poems by famous French poets.
Discussion of poetic stylistic devices, metaphors and modes of expression.
Understanding chansons and music:
Listening to and understanding French chansons of different genres.
Text analysis and interpretation of song lyrics.
Cultural insights:
Incorporating cultural aspects to promote a broad understanding of French art and music.
Discussion of historical background and social issues in the works covered.
Language practice and pronunciation:
Intensive practice of French pronunciation using poems and song lyrics.
Interactive exercises to improve oral and written expression.

At the end of the course, participants can receive a graded certificate subject to a minimum of 75% course attendance and passing grades in all four language skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing). The ultimate decision regarding recognition (or non-recognition) of ECTS points (credits) lies with your university’s or institutes’ Study Program Administration [Studienprogrammleitung].
