Registration deadline: 1 week before the examination (online registration)
The certificates will be issued within 3 business days after the examination.
Examination fee: EUR 83
Important: This fee is applicable with a minimum number of 6 examinees. Two options are available in case the number of registrations for the examination should fall below 6: cost-free deregistration, or additional charge up to the single-examination rate of EUR 149 (up to C1) resp. EUR 170 (for C2). There are no discounts for Language Competency Certificates.
Refunds:
Successful applicants for Erasmus exchange program places benefit from a EUR 40 refund granted by the International Office of the University of Vienna. Disbursement is done in cash at the Office of the Language Center. Recipients of study grants are refunded EUR 81 upon submission of the Erasmus letter of acceptance.
Refunds can be obtained directly at the Language Center and are only possible within the following periods:
- Summer semester (annually): 01.06. – 30.06.
- Winter semester (annually): 01.12. – 10.12.
Refunds are possible up to a maximum of one year after the examination date and are paid out directly at the Language Center (see Office Hours) upon presentation of an identification document.
Only costs for language proficiency certificates and Erasmus courses from the Language Center of the University of Vienna will be refunded, but no costs for general language courses.
Important note: The International Office of the University of Vienna is financing this refund. We therefore ask for your understanding that only outgoing students at the University of Vienna can take advantage of this and that the International Office has very clear guidelines for this target group.
Certificates issued by the Language Center at the end of the following courses are also recognised as language competency certificates:
Important: In order to fulfil the host university’s CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level requirements, candidates must complete the respective third course phase successfully! Thus, if the host university requires a Level B2 language competency certificate, the candidate will have to successfully complete attendance of a Level B2, Phase 3 course.
