Mandatory online pre-registration and course registration/payment
- Online pre-registration (submission of documents): from 11.01.2024
- In-person registration/payment in Vienna: 19.01.2024 – 02.02.2024
- Completing admission to the university: by 05.02.2024
Step 1 - VWU online pre-registration and selection of a registration and placement day
Choose a day here from 11.01.2024 for your personal registration and placement test at the Sprachenzentrum.
Upload the following documents and save both in one document.
- admission letter of the university
- copy of your passport
Within two business days, we will inform you by e-mail if we have received all necessary documents. Only then can you register/pay in person at our office and have a place reserved for the placement test on the day of registration.
Step 2 - Registration, payment of the course and placement test
You have to do the registration and payment in person at the Sprachenzentrum in Vienna (€ 1.410; we accept cash, Visa, Mastercard). When you have paid for the course in full, we will send you the registration confirmation and the confirmation for the health insurance ÖGK by e-mail in the afternoon. You will need the confirmation of registration for admission to the university.
The placement test will take place on the same day in the afternoon in person at the Sprachenzentrum. You only have a secure place for the placement test if you have received an email from us that you have submitted your documents correctly.
Schedule:
- Personal registration: 10:00 hrs - 12:00 hrs
You will receive the location and time of the placement test after registration/payment. - Break
- Placement test (written and oral): approx. 13:00 hrs - 18:30 hrs
Step 3 - Register at your university
Now you have to complete your enrollment at the university.
You have to enroll online or in person at your university. Please contact your university for more detailed information.

Step 4 - Pay the Students' Union Fee (ÖH-Beitrag)
The student union fee is EUR 22.70.
Please pay the amount before the course starts! Without payment you will NOT be registered at your university for the next semester and you will not receive your student record sheet or other official documents (i.e. insurance confirmations or MA 35 documents).
Step 5 - We will e-mail you your course details
We will send you an e-mail with your course details for the next semester approximately 3 days prior to the start of the course:
- Course time
- Course location
- Teacher
- Course books
The course books are available at facultas am Campus or on the publisher's websites worldwide.
Step 6 - We wish you a pleasant and successful course!
Your course starts on 27.02.2024.
Important deadlines and terms of cancellation
Deadlines for the summer semester 2024 (for new students):
- Registration period: 19.01.2024 – 02.02.2024 (online pre-registration open as of 11.01.2024)
- Admission at the university: until 05.02.2024
- Course details by e-mail: 23.02.2024
Placement tests (for new students):
NEW: Registration and placement test take place on the same day in person at our office. Take your time throughout the whole day. Travel to Vienna the day before at the latest. You already select the registration and placement day for your online pre-registration (upload of documents).

Cancellation:
Cancelling the VWU German course is only possible with a certificate of exmatriculation or an admission as a degree programme student until 13.02.2024. There will be no refunds after this date. Please bring the relevant confirmation of the university and a confirmation of the health insurance (ÖGK - Österreichische Gesundheitskasse - former WGKK).
