Registration period for new students, who only have to take the EPD
- Online pre-registration (submission of documents): from 07.01.2025
- In-person registration/payment in Vienna: 13.01.2025 – 24.01.2025
- Completing admission to the university: by 05.02.2025
New students, who have to take the EPD and additional subjects, make the online pre-registration and take the placement test at the VWU in Sechshauser Straße. All information can be found at www.vwu.at.
Step 1 - VWU online pre-registration and selection of a registration and placement day
Choose a day here from 07.01.2025 for your personal registration and placement test at the Sprachenzentrum.
Upload the following documents and save both in one document.
- admission letter of the university
- copy of your passport
Within two business days, we will inform you by e-mail if we have received all necessary documents. Only then can you register/pay in person at our office and have a place reserved for the placement test on the day of registration.
Step 2 - Registration, payment of the course and placement test
You have to do the registration and payment in person at the Sprachenzentrum in Vienna (€ 1,565; we accept cash, Visa, Mastercard). When you have paid for the course in full, we will send you the registration confirmation and the confirmation for the health insurance ÖGK by e-mail in the afternoon. You will need the confirmation of registration for admission to the university.
The placement test will take place on the same day in the afternoon in person at the Sprachenzentrum. You only have a secure place for the placement test if you have received an email from us that you have submitted your documents correctly.
Schedule:
- Personal registration: 10:00 hrs - 12:00 hrs
You will receive the location and time of the placement test after registration/payment. - Break
- Placement test: approx. 12:00 hrs - 19:00 hrs
Step 3 - Register at your university
Now you have to complete your enrollment at the university.
You have to enroll online or in person at your university. Please contact your university for more detailed information.

Step 4 - Pay the Students' Union Fee (ÖH-Beitrag)
The student union fee is EUR 24.70.
Please pay the amount before the course starts! Without payment you will NOT be registered at your university for the next semester and you will not receive your student record sheet or other official documents (i.e. insurance confirmations or MA 35 documents).
Step 5 - We will e-mail you your course details
On 21.02.2025 we will send you an e-mail with the following course details:
- Course time
- Course location
- Teacher
- Course books
The course books are available at facultas am Campus or on the publisher's websites worldwide.
Step 6 - We wish you a pleasant and successful course!
Your course starts on 25.02.2025.
Important deadlines and terms of cancellation
Deadlines for the winter semester 2024 (for new students,who only have to take the EPD):
- Registration period: 12.08.2024 – 26.08.2024 (online pre-registration open as of 05.08.2024)
- Admission at the university: until 05.09.2024
- Course details by e-mail: 30.09.2024
Placement tests:
Registration and placement test take place on the same day in person at our office. Take your time throughout the whole day. Travel to Vienna the day before at the latest. You already select the registration and placement day for your online pre-registration (upload of documents).
- Arrival in Vienna: one day before your registration and placement day
- Personal registration: 10:00 hrs - 12:00 hrs
You will receive the location and time of the placement test after registration/payment. - Placement test (written and oral): approx. 13:00 hrs - 18:30 hrs
Terms of cancellation:
Deregistration is only possible if you provide us with a confirmation from the university (e.g. student record sheet, confirmation of study periods, confirmation of withdrawal or similar) which shows that you are not enrolled in the University preparation programme (VWU) in the current semester. The course fee can only be refunded within the cancellation period.
The cancellation period for the summer semester 2025 is until 11.02.2025.
