Comprehensive Tutorials for English Language Competency Exams B2

Target Group: Applicants and students who are required to demonstrate B2-level English proficiency for program admission or progression.
Objective and Goals: This course supports candidates who have not passed their English Language Competency Exam (Sprachkompetenznachweis) and intend to retake it for admission to or continuation in their study program. As the exam follows a standardized format, targeted preparation can be decisive. Therefore, the Language Center of the University of Vienna proposes a focused tutorial designed to assist candidates as they prepare to retake their exam.
Content and Materials: The course concentrates on specific aspects of the exam as well as effective strategies and study techniques that lead to better results. Practice activities in listening and reading, draft writing, and speaking practice are the core components of the tutorials. Participants will work with tasks similar to the actual exam, discussing strategies and tips to achieve the best possible results. Through a practical approach, students learn how to tackle common listening and reading task types (multiple choice, true/false/not given, matching, fill-in), how to organize written texts, and how to improve speaking performance during the exam. All materials will be prepared and distributed by the lecturer.
Outcome Statement: Participants will gain familiarity with exam formats, improve task-specific strategies, and increase confidence in all four language skills.
Exams and Credits: No exams and no credits are envisioned for these tutorials. The main goal is to ensure better results in the English Language Competency Exam at the Language Center of the University of Vienna.
