Course Registration & Deregistration

Courses in more than 30 languages are available at the Language Center, focusing on building up general language skills in speaking, writing, listening and reading. In adition we offer specialized courses focused on certain skills and specialized vocabulary, as well as standard test preparation courses and various standardized tests.

Please visit Course Calendar for a comprehensive overview of the the range of services we offer.

If you are not sure what course level to register for, you can take a placement test for many of the foreign languages we offer. Please find the relevant placement test dates on our website (Course Levels & Placement). If no placement tests are offered for the language of your choice, you can self-assess your level by means of our checklists.

If you are attending a German course at the Language Center for the first time, please sign up for a course without a declared level ("with placement test"). You will be asked to sit a placment test after registration or prove your German proficiency with a Goethe or ÖSD certificate.

Placement tests are offered in many languages from the beginning of the registration period. Additionally, you can find the course level descriptions for a self-assessment of your level at Course Levels & Placement.

Registration for German courses is possible as long as course places are available. We strongly recommend that you sign up for the course of your choice soon after the start of the registration period.

Online registration is available for all courses from the beginning of the registration period.

Foreign language courses, as well as A1/1 German courses, can be booked online without previous login data.

The vast majority of our courses take place as planned. Should we - against all odds - have to cancel a course, we shall notifiy you before course kick-off and inform you regarding alternatives.

  • What happens if the course does not take place?
Courses which cannot take place due to low registration numbers shall be cancelled after the end of the official registration period. You will be notified by email regarding the cancellation, as well as alternatives available. Any course fees you may have already paid shall be refunded in full.
  • When do I receive reliable confirmation that the course is taking place?
We always assume that courses take place as planned. You shall only be sent an email notification in case your course needs to be curtailed or canceled due to low registration numbers.
  • How do course contailments work?
Foreign language courses for which fewer than 10 participants have signed up shall be curtailed by one course day. The reference date for the curtailment is the second course day.
  • How do reimbursements work?
Should a course be cancelled by the Language Center, the full course fee will be refunded. Reimbursement can be done in cash at our Office, or by bank transfer to your account. Should you have paid your course fees by credit card, please consider that the transaction can last up to three weeks. It is only after your fees have reached our bank account that reimbursement can be carried out.

You can enter your name on the waiting list online or have it added to the waiting list at the Office. We will be happy to notify you in case a course place should become available.

Having your name on the waiting list does not correspond to a registration.
You will be contacted by the Language Center only in the event that a place has become available on the course you chose. It is not necessary for people on the waiting list to pay the course fees, nor does such payment entitle a person on the waiting list to participation in a course

The course may have been canceled due to low registration numbers. Alternatively, it may have been removed from the online list due to overbooking.

Should you wish to register for a follow-up course, it is advisable to do so from the very start of the registration period, even if you have not earned your course certificate yet. In case you fail the final examination, please come to the Office at the end of your course. We will do our best to find a proper solution.

All courses are available online after the beginning of the registration period.
